Dunedin Railways Update

Dunedin Railways Update

As you may be aware Dunedin and the wider Otago region had a very wet November which has had an effect on the railway track.

As a result, Dunedin Railways have placed speed restrictions on the line, which is critical for the safety of passengers, which has had an effect on current running times.  With immediate effect Dunedin Railways wish to advise that the Taieri Gorge excursion will be up to 4.5 hours and the Seasider Experience 2 hours on a non-cruise ship day. This is an increase of half an hour on each trip on our current timetable. At this stage Dunedin Railways envisage that this will be in place until the end of January 2019 but will continue monitoring this and should there be any changes we will be updated accordingly.

It is envisioned that departure times from Dunedin Railway station will remain the same and one way travellers from Pukerangi are still urged to report at the usual times.   Dunedin Railways will do all possible to contact passengers or booking agent should trains depart late from Dunedin.

Dunedin Railways apologise for any inconvenience this temporary change may cause.
